Tank Surface Area Calculator | Floor, Walls and Ceiling

Calculate the internal waterproofing area of a tank: floor, walls, and ceiling. Use exact dimensions, capacity only, or a rough estimate when measurements are unknown.

Tank Data

Rectangular / Square
Cylindrical / Round
This mode is the most accurate because it uses the real dimensions entered by the customer.
When only capacity is known, the calculator estimates dimensions from the assumed height and tank shape. Accuracy depends on whether these assumptions match the real tank.
If entered, the estimate will not go below a practical reserve for the number of users.
Use this when the customer says the tank takes one or more water trucks.
Truck sizes vary, so choose the closest size or confirm it from the supplier.
This mode produces a rough range only. It is useful for a first conversation before requesting photos or a site visit.

How the Calculation Works

For rectangular tanks: floor = length × width, walls = 2 × (length + width) × height, ceiling = length × width.

For cylindrical tanks: floor = π × radius², walls = 2 × π × radius × height, ceiling = π × radius².

When dimensions are unknown, the calculator estimates dimensions from capacity or typical tank sizes. The result should be treated as a planning estimate only.

FAQ

Should I calculate the ceiling too?

For full internal waterproofing, yes. If the work is floor and walls only, uncheck ceiling.

Which mode is most accurate?

Exact dimensions are the most accurate. Capacity-only and no-measurement modes are estimates.

Does this calculate material quantity?

No. This page calculates area. Use the waterproofing material calculator after getting the area.
